Welcome to the 2025 Plein Air Season!  In addition to having several new painting locations, there are a few events coming up that may be of interest to the plein air painters.

Firstly, the Collingwood Art Market will be held this year on Saturday, June 28.  Plein air painters are welcome to participate in the market as vendors, or as artists painting the scenery. To sign up as a vendor, please look under ‘For Artists’ on the BMFA home page.

As part of the BMFA 50th anniversary celebration, the plein air painters will be invited to participate in Sidelaunch days by painting the iconic Grain Elevators. There will be more details to follow.

Last, but not least, this fall a group of BMFA plein air painters will be travelling north to Algonquin Park to paint for several days.

Who Can Join?

All BMFA members, from beginner to professional level, are welcome to participate in the plein air group. Contact [email protected] to have your name added to the email list.

When Do You Meet?

We meet each week from  early May until late October.  You can choose to paint on Wednesday and/or Thursday. Start time depends on location, but generally it is around 9:30 am to 4 pm.

Where Do You Meet?

Each week we paint at a different location, and the locations range from local businesses, to private homes to public areas. All locations, with the exception of South Bay Fields Lavender Farm, have free parking and access to washrooms.  Our locations for the upcoming season include Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Nottawa, Stayner, Creemore, Duntroon, Glen Huron, Singhampton, Eugenia, and Thornbury, to name a few.

How Will I Know Where to Go?

At the beginning of the season, you will be emailed a calendar showing all the locations (with an embedded link to a map).  You will also receive a weekly email reminder.

What Should I Bring?

Art Supplies

Water

Lunch, depending on location and personal preference

Clothing appropriate for the weather and location

A chair, if you prefer to sit when you work

Bug repellent

Intake days:  Saturday July 19 and Sunday July 20
