Marion Bartlett Sculpture Workshop
May 29 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Marion Bartlett is a career sculptor who has shared her skills and inspired art students for decades. Marion’s experience with clay as a potter and sculptor, has produced works that have found their way into exhibitions and galleries throughout North America and beyond.
Her workshops are entertaining and informative as she demonstrates various techniques and shares her knowledge while focusing on how to manipulate clay into unique shapes.
This workshop will focus on creating a face that might grace a wall and form a decorative original sculpture. The clay used for this particular project is a terracotta earthenware that will be fired in Marion’s kiln at her Singhampton studio after participants have finished building and adding to their artworks.
The day will begin with an introduction, then demonstration of sculpting a face from clay. Specific facial features can be realistic or abstract, depending on the participants’ interests. As clay is a tactile smooth material, this becomes a pleasantly therapeutic experience as we search for the shapes and nuances toward the end of our project.
Marion will discuss how to complete and add to the fired sculptures when they are returned to the participants’ at 65 Simcoe Street.
Costs of this workshop include materials, tools, and firing of clay work.
Marion Bartlett shares studio/gallery space with her husband, woodworker Richard Bino at their property, Singhampton Sculpture Forest outside of Collingwood.
