Earth Day Drop-In: Make, Do and Mend

April 22 @ 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Did you know there’s already enough clothing on Earth to dress the next six generations? Instead of tossing your worn-out favourites, why not turn them into wearable art?

Join us this Earth Day at the BMFA for a drop-in session celebrating creativity, sustainability, and the joy of repair. Whether it’s a pair of jeans with a hole, a threadbare sock, or a beloved shirt that’s showing its age, our textile artist volunteers will guide you through hand-sewn repair techniques—including visible mending, darning, and patching denim.

Learn how to give your clothes a second life with colourful, expressive stitching. Think of it as drawing with thread—a way to turn damage into design and make your wardrobe a little more planet-friendly, one stitch at a time.

Materials are provided—just bring your garments and your imagination. No sewing machines here; just hands, needles, and a whole lot of creativity
