Hope Herbst

Hope expresses: “Watercolor has been my favorite medium for over 35 years, and continues to provide unique opportunities and challenges.” She best describes her visual communication as Abstract Realism. Hope derives an enormous amount of pleasure from capturing the human form, body language and the spirit. Whether drawing from life or a more impulsive urban sketching or an abstracted painting of the figure, the challenge of recording and interpreting that form and its gestures, combined with the emotional component of watercolour keeps her enticed. Hope states that she enjoys the challenge of the puzzle pieces to tell the story and working out the different relationships to make the story complete.
